Is there any word on when PageSecurity will work with MediaWiki 1.9? I now have a need for the extension, but I've already upgraded my wiki.
The name alone implies this is one of those wonderful false-sense-of-security extensions that will never fully work with MediaWiki and should not be trusted to secure data, ever. At all.
Well, I'm not looking to protect data, just set permissions on edit pages, which PageSecurity is more than adequate for. If you have a better way, please let me know. Otherwise, I was just trying to get feedback on timing - since I've seen the author post on this list.

I'm sure this message makes a lot of sense. I just can't figure it out...
<plug> Seemingly there's some people having a hard time trying to tweak the skins of Mediawiki, and perhaps it's not the easiest thing to do. So, while at it, doing design for some other web-projects, we decided to make some skins for Mediawiki free for download.
We put up a demo site where you can logon as guest/guest. We enabled the terrific tool "navpop" fo guest, so take the chance watch it in action by hovering a wiki link.
There's only one skin available so far (alpha stage, "business style" kinda) but there's more skins in the pipe ("university style"). Stay tuned and feel free to download and use our skins for free, bandwidth is cheap these days!

Please let us know about any bugs and strange behavior in other browsers than the tested ones. </plug>

That's very nice of you, thanks! (I just hope this isn't a trick in which you've added some secret backdoor to the skin files... ;) )

I like it, good job! Actually, I might adopt this one as soon as it's production-ready!

This isn't browser-related, but when previewing the rilgrey-01 skin (from the guest user's preferences), I get the following error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '-', expecting '{' in /hsphere/local/home/rilnet/demo.rilnet.org/w/skins/rilgrey-01.php on line 25

I assume you mean accidentally replying to the PageSecurity thread? I hate it when that happens, but at least you apologized...
Keep us updated on your progress there!

You'll find out in due time... :-)

Yes, the error occurs because it's not allowed to use '-' in php-class names...
- Already fixed, Sir!
Thank's for letting us know. I'll add this to our "fix-log" since it is valuable information about "how NOT to"...

By the way, just a small suggestion (not sure if it's skin-related though): I recently stumbled across the Organic Design wiki*, and I really liked their integrating the RecentChanges list in the nav menu. That makes a lot of sense for small and medium-sized wikis, as it keeps everyone informed about what's going on. So it'd be cool if you could integrate that into your skin as well. (As I've said, I haven't looked into that yet, and I don't know whether it should be part of the skin.)
