Hello,
I would like to know if anyone already install Sphider into Mediawiki to replace the built-in search engine? Anyone got
an online
tut somewhere ?
As far as I know, Sphider has not yet been integrated. To see what other alternate search solutions are available, take a look at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Search_extensions . I am not sure if any of these would meet your needs.
Paul.
Thanks for the answer. I'm starting to think I will not found my need :-/ I'm looking for a full text search engine who is able to display result when you search on a part of the word, for example : 'wikiped' should answer all pages with 'wikipedia' but it's not the case atm. The built-in search engine doesn't do the trick, neither Sphinx. I've tested Lucene-search who won't compile (I've checkout a bad version? = trunk 27705). Any ideas who could help me out ?
Thanks!

I'm not sure if there are any search engines that would suite your needs. Unless, of course, you are talking about searching for "test" and getting hits for "tests", "testing", "tested", etc. This functionality is called stemming, which is supported on Sphinx (I'm don't know about others).
