Thanks Fabio for the pointer to the WAMP package. Apache 2.0.58 contained in the WAMP package does crash albeit differently now - I do not get error code 20024 anymore, just crashes (the error report states that the crash occurs in ntdll.dll). What version of Windows XP are you using ? My setup is currently Windows XP sp2 (Home Edition version 2002).
