I was just thinking about getting the book 'MediaWiki Administrators Tutorial Guide' and wanted to find out if anyone has bought this and what they thought about it. Good current information?
thanks

Really, just read the handbook on Meta. It's here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents and covers all roles, user to sysadmin. It's free to read. There's also the public domain help at mediawiki.org.uk/wiki/Help:Contents.

And obviously, with MediaWiki 1.10 being branched for release sometime in April, any book is going to be a little out of date. Plus, you have this list, and #mediawiki (an IRC channel - see http://mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_on_IRC for details.

It is a good reference for people who are not programmers and are not familiar with the underlying principles behind MediaWiki. I am in that camp, and have found it very useful. I bought it because the Help pages on Meta are basically a technical reference, and were not very helpful in giving me a big picture of how MediaWiki works.
