I googled and read threads about the email problems in MW, but couldn't find the exact answer. The problems are 1) email confirmation doesn't work. It just doesn't send email to the registered user. 2) cannot receive the forgotten password by email. I'm using, --------------------- MW version 1.7.1 PHP: 5.0.4 (apache2handler) MySQL: 4.1.11 Fedora 4 --------------------- Also, I would like to modify MW so that only the admin can create the users. Without email working, it won't be possible since the password will be emailed to the created user. I'm expecting to create around 450 users soon. I would very much appreciate your help. Thank you,

By default, it just calls PHP's built in mail() function, so if your machine and PHP are configured properly, it should work fine. I recently added some diagnostics, so now if there is a problem, it will display an error message, but that hasn't been released yet, so in the meantime it will say the email was sent, even if it wasn't.

Thank you for your reply. When will your diagnostics be released? I need to configure the email function of MW in about a week. Is there any way that I can check whether mail() in PHP works and correct it if it doesn't work? Many people (we expect several hundred) will visit our MW for some evaluation task so, I need to fix the problem ASAP. I look forward to your advices. Thank you very much,

Write a quick php script to send yourself an email? If the email arrives, mail() is working, if it doesn't, it's not.

Also try it with an account outside your company (send mail not local)

2. In the server, /var/spool/clientmqueue was originally owned by root. changed owner so that sendmail can have access to /var/spool/clientmqueue
[root@xxx public_html]# chown smmsp:smmsp /var/spool/clientmqueue/
[root@xxx public_html]# ls -al /var/spool/clientmqueue/
total 8
