To change the contents of the sidebar, browse to /MediaWiki:Sidebar on your
wiki and an an entry like:
** System:Index | Systems
This would add a link on the left that says "Systems" brining users to the
Systems:Index page.
Just an idea, others feel free to correct me on this.

Thanks everyone. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
This will be strictly an internal company wiki for developers and users
to share thoughts and info on different processing systems we have. I
have to get the initial set up done and put some data in to get started.
Then, others will take off with it.
Initially, I need to revamp the navigation sidebar so the user can click
on a link, for example lets call it System. When they click on that
link it will take them to another page which lists links to various sub
titles under the main "System". Kinda of like an outline. Is that
possible? One Main Topic called System could have 20 sub topics where
information about various aspects of that system.
I think they could enter the name (System) in search and find pages that
way but trying to find an easier way.
Thanks

Mediawiki.org would be the first place to stop. Check out the
configuration
guide:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Configuration
Most configuration changes are made by editing, adding, or removing
variables in the LocalSettings.php file. Additional features not
included with the software can be added through extensions:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Extensions
I came from a programming background too, the learning curve isn't too
bad.
This list is excellent for more specific questions.

Hi,
What suggestions do you have for someone who has to set up a Wiki
using Mediawiki. It has been installed by a tech guy but now I, as a
programmer, have to set it up, get it functioning and get data into
it.
That is my assignment at work.
(Suggestions to find another job will not work!!!)
I have gotten permissions set up so I can edit LocalSettings.php (and
I don't know php either).
I know nothing about Wiki except looking stuff up in Wikipedia!!!
Thanks
