My 1.4.0 MW site experiences "stale" thumbnail Image caches when the Image file is updated via successive file uploads.

The only way yet I've found to fix this is the temporarily rename the Image-file name, save the page, then re-edit the page back to the original name.

Do more-recent versions of MW fix this?

If not, how can I best address this problem?
