Hi All,
I want to display first para of an article on my home page box-featured article. Can I set some parameter like no. of characters or so, such that I can translude, say 100 chars from an article on the home page and then provide a "read more..." link?

Regards,
No. Also, take into account that first 100 chars might not even make sense, or be a Infobox. On Wikipedias it's done manually by pasting on a template the first lines. You could border the first article lines with <onlyinclude> </onlyinclude> and transclude the article, but it's a bit intrusive.

Hi Jack,
You might find this extension useful: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Labeled_Section_Transclusion
I haven't used it myself so I can't vouch for it, but it's used on Wikisource.

Using DPL would be better. DPL has all the LST functionality and more, except the ability to transclude from the same page or do an exclusion. One of the additions is that ability to have the read more link and limit by character and still be able to use the sections.
