I've recently started using the "It's All Text!" Extension in FireFox - it opens your favorite editor and lets you save edits into the MediaWiki page you're editing.

We tried the Wikipedia plug in for Eclipse, but it didn't perform as expected - there was a lot of cutting and pasting.
