Hi,
I want to make with Mediawiki something like a library. Is it possible to setup Mediwiki so that only a person who creates an article to be able to edit that corresponding article and that it is locked for others?

It sounds like MediaWiki is the wrong tool for your purposes.

There are times when this might come in handy. The other admin and I have some articles where we place some *sensitive* information that we don't want for the general readership. (knowing the only real safe place is on a waded piece of paper in an old pair of shorts in the bottom of the dresser .. we leave out critical information).
In a case like this we want to simply remove read and or edit rights for that specific piece of information.
That does not mean that 99% of the wiki does now work as a wiki. Just simpler to use same tool for storage.

Well, I need a combination of functionalities - somethings may/need to be edited by all, but some - only by the correspondent creators. Do you mean that the current MediaWiki doesn't support such a behavior?

There is a real push back on the idea of any "protection" as MW is designed with Wikipeida and the other Wiki* projects in mind.
There are some extensions available which add a level of *security* ... BUT you must know that security is in the mind of the beholder. If someone has a basic level of connection to your system it is possible that they can hack into other bits (you can't stop and dishonest person .. only keep an honest person honest :)
Take a look at the extension pages and see if there is something there that will work. I believe I remember seeing something like that available.

To me, having the "author" of an article be the only one to edit it seems like an arms race - first one there wins! So the only way to do it reasonably is to either use a naming convention, or have a real person manage who is the "author" of a page (which further requires storing "author" information in some way).
That said, one use case that's similar to the one you describe is where users may not edit eachother's user pages. For this I have created the KeepYourHandsToYourself Extension[1].
Along the same lines, you may want to restrict editorship to only a user's own pages. The use case for that might be a single-editor website where you allow registered users to modify their own pages, but don't want them messing with regular site conent. Thanks Jim, Just to ask, do you think it is possible using your extension to do so that some articles are treated as "authored articles" (that is, edited only by their creators), and others - as free-to-edit-by-everybody ones. Because this is exactly the behavior I am after.

It gets just a little bit more difficult because the original author of a document isn't an information that is 'attached' to a page revision (only the last editor is). For sure, if one makes the assumption that *only* the author is ever allowed to edit the page in question, then one just has to pull out the username of the page's last revision... but then, this does not leave much more for special groups (e.g. sysop) to come in and manage the pages in question.
Of course it can be done but, depending on method used, it can translate to slower transaction rates.
