I switched hosting providers and had them move my files over and import the database.
Now, all images display black, except new ones which display fine but when I click on one, it takes me to "/wiki/ Image:X.jpg" - with the space in the URL. I introduced pretty URL rewrite rules on this host, they weren't supported on old - is this the problem? Thanks. -- Gary Kirk
Please could you give us more information on the version of MediaWiki you are running and how exactly you did the move to the new host. Export SQL, export XML etc. Thanks, Robert.

MediaWiki 1.9.3 and I didn't do the move, I provided them with FTP details and details of a new database and they did the transfer and import of a .sql.gz I made for them.

Should not be a problem since there is - to my understanding - no change internally. Just the look of the URL changes, which is the reason that you need the rewrite.
From my experience after moving the wiki around quite often in the last
weeks, I see two possible reasons 1. wrong permission on the images or rather thumb directory 2. typo (space) in the rewrite rule, which causes the space in the URL
