Hi,
I was wondering if there is any way in which Mediawiki could support content federation, something like InstantCommons but for transcluding content from external mediawiki instances. Has it been attempted before?
The reason for this is that in some countries some texts are copyrighted while in other countries they are supposed to be in the public domain.
On Wikisource we use iwpages [1] for translcuding between different language versions, and it would be interesting to know if we could transclude pages from external websites like Wikilivres [2].
Thanks Micru

We do support it. It's called scary transclusion, and it's scary and awful.
There was an iwtransclusion branch to fix most of this, but it's pretty bitrotted at this point.
