You should have used the URL: http://www.startux.org/index.php/Main_Page?action=purge for the mainpage to make the Mediawiki flush its internal cache of the page as well.
It seems to work for me now.

No, my reply was too soon. If I do the ?action=purge addition it DOES work. However a reload of the original url (from the original post) STILL doesn't show logo.
