Hi all,
I'm having trouble with user input potentially containing wikitext characters such as }}, {{, |, etc. I'd prefer not to restrict user input and would hope that there's a solution like <nowiki> but for use in templates.
I've tried wrapping the value on the main page with no wiki.

Is there any way to do this?
Thanks,
Garrett
This won't solve your problem now, but there is an RfC that would address this. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T114432 .. There are plans to do some prototyping in the coming months.
Subbu.

So, <nowiki> should work perfectly fine in template parameters.
Unless you mean you want most wikitext to work, just not }} and friends. In which case there are two things you could do: either have a separate template containing just the characters (there is a built in template:! Where {{!}} Puts out a |). Or you can use entities e.g. { instead of { and } instead of } and | instead of |.
