Running v.1.7.1, how can I change the text in the upper right corner to just say "log in" instead of "log in / create account"? I'm going to set up a different channel for creating an account.

Go to Special:Allmessages page of your wiki, then look for the message you want to change (in this case : look after "log in / create account" which corresponds to the *userlogin* message, then you can modify it by modifying the Mediawii:Userlogin page)
