I have a request by my manager to have one of our external applications add a category to our Wiki whenever a category is added in the external application.

Does anyone know if something like this has been attempted before - or, if not, is there any detailed documentation on the database functions? I'm finding bits and pieces of information scattered about, but was wondering if there was a comprehensive guide.
