Hello
I was wondering how I could change the text of a page within the edit window (ie the page says something, but i want to automatically remove it before it is edited)
Cheers

I don't understand what you mean, could you please expand?

When the user clicks the "edit" button on a page, i want the text displayed within the textframe for editing to be different from the article text (modified)
is that clearer?
Cheers

Sounds like a strange request - just out of curiosity, what are you trying to do, exactly?

I don't know what he wants, but for those of us using the ProtectSection extension, it would be nice if the <protect> tag didn't show up when it's the very last thing in a section edit. As long as it would get put back afterwards! As it is set up now, an empty section followed by a protected section gets a textarea with <protect> near the top. The natural thing for the user to do is to click somewhere in the box and add text after the <protect> tag.
I think there are probably better ways to handle this minor problem, though... I just haven't come up with one yet!

I'm trying to modify the access control extension so that accesscontrol tags are invisible to certain users.

It sounds like you have some 'default text' that you are including in a page. When the user edits you don't want them to be able to change that text. Is this what you are talking about??
If yes then you could make your 'default text' a template which you then would include like {{mytemplate}}. When the user sees the page they will see {{mytemplate}} but not all the text associated with the template.
