I'm unable to link to articles with '+' characters in their names, as in the case of "C++". I looked to Wikipedia, and see they do it just fine. Even if I copy the URL hex codes from the Wikipedia article name to my wiki URL article name, I only get an article named "C". What do I need to do? I'm running version MediaWiki 1.6.5. Anm

You need to add "+" to the list of allowed title characters. Read the comments above $wgLegalTitleChars in includes/DefaultSettings.php first. Rob Church

I'm not sure what you mean. We use an alias to get /wiki/Anything to work. An alias also has benefits over a rewrite rule in that it doesn't foul up the already-encoded 'special URL characters'.

I meant as a article title character, when added to the legal character list. Obviously this would need to be URL encoded by Mediawiki, but that is the trivial part. Anm
