I inherited a wiki on a Linux system that was installed using xampp, put out by apachefriends.org. It's worked great. It was preconfigured for PHP, apache, mySQL, Perl, etc.
Now the database admins want to get involved, but it looks like mySQL was installed using the root userid and password. They say this is a problem, and are suggesting it would be best to reinstall mySQL to set up a DBA userid and password.
Has anyone else gone through this? and if I do need to reinstall mySQL what else do I need to reinstall?
Thanks, Beth
Get a complete backup of MW database.
Once they have mySql reinstalled you should simply be able to do a restore of the DB. Be sure that MW settings have been updated to new user password as needed.
As long as they give the mySql-MW user all rights to the db there should be no problems.
We went through similar when we moved from window test box to corp linux box (oh my .. admins .. :)
