Have any 3rd party plugins been developed yet to allow articles to be tagged, then show a tag cloud on the main page?

You mean artikles are given keywords, and then the most-used keywords are displayed in some sort of list/table on the main page? (Damn, I wish people would stop using new words for old stuff).
Not as far as I know, but you could do this:
{{tag-foobar}} {{tag-bazzle}}
and have the template insert:
<!-- foobar -->
into the article. (That might also help the search engine)
Then it is possible to see a list of articles that use the different templates - although creating all these templates might be a bit burdensome if you intent the "tags" to be open-ended (e.g. everyone can just tag everything with whatever they want - instead of just using a predefined list of "approved" keywords).
Best wishes,
Tels

How could I show a list of articles that use a given template?

View the template and select "What links here".

There is a "What links to here" in the menu box if you view a template, but I am not sure you can (easily) embed that into an article.
And I am not sure it is possible to do sorting (show the 10 most used templates) etc.
So, I do think at least for the display issue you need an extension.
Have you looked into SemanticWiki? It might do this and even more, by not just assigning "tags" but also give them meanign like "is-a: color", "is: red" etc.

Has anyone noticed their FancyCaptcha login extension no longer functioning after an upgrade to 1.8.2 ?
I'm looking into it now for our site: http://genomewiki.ucsc.edu/
--Hiram
Never mind. Upgraded to latest versions of ConfirmEdit.php and FancyCaptcha.php and all is well again.
Sure is difficult to keep up with the versions changes ...

Quick question for anyone familiar with the schema of MW. I need to pull what we're calling the 'Word of the Day'. Has anyone done something like this? I see it around. I'm actually pulling it into the homepage, which is outside of MW but I think I need a further understanding of how to pull pages and edits from MW.
Thanks...
