I see from the help article http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Searching that the search does and automatic AND on all words in the search edit box. Is there a way to force and OR or possibly use wildcards?
I have done some searching and have not found anything but find it odd that I would be the first one asking about this.
Ideas?
Thanks

May not be the first and wasn't the last to ask about this <G>
It seems from robs reply to "Couple of Mediawiki questions" that the answer to this is no.
Is there anyone working on this as an extension?
Thanks

It would *seem* that a 'filtered' search against fulltext would be as simple as
select si_page,si_title from searchindex where match (si_text) against ('categ*' in boolean mode) order by si_title
Where we are returning all pageIds and pageTitles from the searchIndex using the search work 'cate*' (all words starting with 'cate').
So if I simply create a special page which passes to the db this form, shouldn't this then return all the items?
Am I on the right track?
