I forgot to mention this is in main.css.
Thanks for the help! :)
But it has no effect. I deactivated the folling lines in the LocalSettings:
## The relative URL path to the logo. Make sure you change this from the default, ## or else you'll overwrite your logo when you upgrade! # $wgLogo = "";
[...]
# $wgLogo = "/skins/monobook/logo.jpg";
and did the changes in the main.css
I also deleted the logo.jpg picture
And of course you empty the cache...
Yes for sure I did that. But I am afraid, I think it has nothing to do with the logo height so that the navigation bar popps up.

If you are using skin "Vector", look into files ...
skins/vector/main-ltr.css skins/vector/main-rtl.css
... especially this part ...
#mw-panel { left: 0; padding-top: 1em; position: absolute; top: 160px; width: 10em; }
Experiment with the "top:"-value.
Cheers, Peter

AAah, thank you Peter and David
I figured out that both solutions are important.
Davids proposal removes the hover and Peters proposal removes the picture
Thanks a lot !!! uv

You probably do not need to modify your skin CSS files, which would be a core code change (that you'd lose on your next Mediawiki update).
Just modify the article MediaWiki:Monobook.css or MediaWiki:Vector.css (whichever is appropriate for your skin) and refresh your browser.
