Hi guys,
I'm starting to get less time for doing list administrator stuff but there is getting more work every week. The queue with this that needed to be done was one a week when I started but its grown to 10 a week. With the holidays coming up and that means lots of out of office replays I guess its time to find a list moderator to help out.
Currently I guess its best to look someone that's active in the community, and is active on this list in good standing..
When you want to help out please e-mail me at mediawiki-l-owner@lists.wikimedia.org

I should have added that if you need a reference, Siebrand or Nikerabbit would vouch for me, I'm sure.

With Siebrand Mazeland I had very bad experience see :

Assume good faith until proven otherwise.
But it is your choice.

And I've had the opposite, Siebrand has helped me a lot, and continues to help open source communities with his work on translatewiki.net. Where in that email did anyone ask you to attack Siebrand?

Guys, there is no need to point fingers. There will be a request about opinions when needed.
Best,

If list members are wondering what this is about, perhaps I can summarise:
A number of MediaWiki community members entered into a collaboration with Bernard Hulsman's Wikiation in order to develop an extension testing system. Hulsman readily agreed that the code thus developed should be open source.
Unfortunately, the MediaWiki community members failed to properly explain to Hulsman what "open source" actually means. When he found out that it involved distribution and reuse free of charge, he seemed genuinely surprised. He posted a message to mediawiki-l with subject "Please convince me to make my software open source":
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.org.wikimedia.mediawiki/33110
He was not convinced. When the community members asserted their right to continue distributing Wikiation code, citing the non-revocability of the GPL, relations soured further. Hulsman made some legal threats, and began writing personal attacks against the developers involved.
Siebrand Mazeland is a well-respected member of the community and continues to have my support.

Tim you do not know the facts and your are colleque of Siebrand Mazeland. I appreciated you support your colleque.
But the rule "assume good faith until proven otherwise" is burried. It is change to "assume good faith because I say so".
Just be open about that. People then know what to expect.
