New subject: [Mediawiki-l] Nested lists

I want to create a nested list that looks like

1. First item
      1. first item
      2. second item
     Sublist ended but the First item continues
2. Second item
3. Third item

The trouble is with "First item continues". As long as there is a line
break after

# First item
## first item
## second item

a new list is started instead of continuing with the old one. What is
the solution? Is there an example somewhere?

I am new to MediaWiki. Thank you for the wonderful product!
