I have an opportunity to migrate a wiki that's currently hosted on one machine to a setup with two application servers and one database server. I understand that I require an HTTP-level cache using either varnish or squid as well as memcached.
I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with this configuration and if there are any caveats I should look out for?
Thanks Bill
HTTP cache is not technically required for any configuration (traffic can be redistributed betwen apaches by a load balancer) though of course every MW install will benefit from it and in your case, a wiki running on 3 servers, the benefit will most likely be quite noticeable. One thing you must definitely do in addition to HTTP caching is to make sure that your appservers are sharing their object cache, i.e. Memcached/Redis.
