I am running MW 1.9 on IIS6 with MySQL 5 and Php 5. Some of my users are encountering a strange error. I am having trouble tracking down the problem. Here is the scenario:
The user logs into the wiki. He can view pages without any problems. He can sometime create/edit pages. However, sometimes when he is trying to create/edit a page, he will get this message: "Do you want to open or save this file". Once he gets this message he is unable to create/edit pages. When he gets this message, I have him close his browser and log back in. I have had him switch browsers too. But he can't create/edit a page. Time appears to be the only solution to the problem. Time goes by and things clear up for a while. But the problem always comes back. This is NOT an isolated incident. It has happened to several of my users.
I suspect that it might be an IIS issue but the logs do not show any problem.
Has anyone experienced this before?

Turn off "use external editor by default" in your user preferences.
