I'm currently running v1.11.0, should I upgrade to the latest version 1.13.1? What are the advantages to doing so?

The 1.13 upgrade is worthwhile even just for the auto-suggest dropdown in the search box. Your users will love you for it.

As an admin it will likely be easier to upgrade if you upgrade often. Upgrading from 1.11 to 1.13 will likely be easier than upgrading from 1.11 to 1.20. Also, I believe the support cycle of the software is 1 year from release, so soon enough your version won't get security updates anymore.
That isn't saying that you should upgrade, just that you shouldn't just wait for some fancy new feature.
