Hi there,
running MediaWiki 1.5.8 (prod) and 1.6.8 (test) we use a remote database for user authentication.
Since we began that, the user count in Special:Statistics doesn't renew even new user records are added!
It seems the code doesn't flow over LoginForm->addNewAccountInternal() ?
-> Do we have do add this anywhere in our auth extension? -> Any other suggestions for analyzing or fixing?

I used the delete-idle-wiki-users.pl (or the php version) and now the Special:Statistics is wrong. I think the code uses something like max(user_id) to find the number of users, which obviously can't work if you remove some lower ones.
