Article histories would be nice, but not a deal-breaker if they couldn't come over.
if it helps, what I mean by merged is that I have two separate media wiki installations: one for a particular department and one for the organization in general. I'd like the bring the dept. wiki into the org wiki so that it aligns with the other depts' wikispace.

Anyone have any ideas at all about how to accomplish this? Or is this topic verboten? :)

I am in the process of trying to wrangle our local Intranet wiki projects into a single installation that hopefully can be completely Interlinked. I have not been able to find any instructions or mention of how best to accomplish this through Google or the list archives. Any advice, pointers, or otherwise would be much appreciated.

If you have the same namespaces, groups, etc. on both and have figured out what to do with duplicate article names and users, I think it's pretty straight-forward.
My guess of what's involved: * get the max(user_id) of the corporate wiki and add that to the user_ids of the dept. wiki when you transfer (do this for all the tables that have a userid, however it's named) * get the max(page_id) of the corporate wiki do the same as above * get the max(log_id).... * revision id * log id etc.
once you have those things updated (in a test DB) you should be able to insert all those records into the corporate wiki db
don't forget to copy over the images and any other extensions you may have
As for the passwords, I'm guessing that it shouldn't be an issue to require all users to have it reset by clicking on the "email password" button. I assume everyone has an email address.....
I'm sure somebody will correct me...........
