I am looking for a way to list the top 5 most active users, it looks like the extension http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/SpecialUserScore should do this, so I added it but it isnt working as a template. When I visit the Special:UserScore page it works if I am logged in as ops but when I put {{Special:UserScore}} it doesn't display a list of the most active users? Instead a link to Special:UserScore is displayed.
Also If I am not logged in as ops the Special:UserScore page gives me the following error: Permission error

Im sorry if this is a dumb question, but I cant figure out how to change the permissions or get the template working.

That "extension" doesn't seem to follow the established guidelines for writing them - it requires modification of core code, and it looks like the installation process is a bit messed up.
It shouldn't be too difficult to create an includable special page or parser hook which does the job, however. If you fancy a bash at it, take a look on http://meta.wikimedia.org and http://www.mediawiki.org for documentation, such as it is, on extension writing.

hi, was wondering, would it make sense to upgrade my software to 1.9 now? or wait till a stable release is out ? If i should wait.. does anyone know when this might be?
thanks, AJ.

Well, if you have the luxury of a spare database, you could make a copy of it, and use the copy to run 1.9.0rc2 for testing. This benefits both of us; you get to see that everything will work when the upgrade rolls around, and we'll hear about any problems you incur.
On the other hand, you may wish to upgrade straight to the release candidate. And since those are coming out, I would suggest you consider the 1.9.0 release somewhat imminent.

For your production-wiki, you should really wait for 1.9.0. Its will be release today or tomorrorw, i guess.
btw: Dont know post new topics here by replying (with your mailclient) to another email. Wirte a new mail to mediawiki-l@lists.wikimedia.org. Know you answered to an email with subject "UserScore extension", and its treaded in this structure.
