Hello, I install MediaWiki (Version 1.6.7, Hebrew interface), Apache 2.0.58, PHP 5.1.4 on Windows XP (Hebrew). After a lot of problems, I can run the MediaWiki, and edit pages as anonymous. But if I log in and then try to use the system, I got problems. Unless I am checked the Remember me check box, the identity lose immediately. If I check this option, then MediaWiki:session_fail_preview message is displayed when I try to save any page. Thanks, Assaf

Open up the PHP configuration and check that session.save_path is pointing to a writable location; the default could be /tmp/something, which isn't valid under Windows.
Check also that sessions are switched *on*, and that session.auto_start is *off*.

You are right that "isn't valid" only to Win command line. In my php.ini i have
session.save_path = "d:/MY/WEB_Sites/!php_tmp"
and it works. Of course to work the folder must exist, too.

Sorry, I don't understand how can ensure that the sessions are switched on. I set session.save_path to "c:/windows/temp", a directory that I can write to it and session.auto_start to 0. But the session cannot be save (actually no file is created).

Oops, I find the problem, I have *two* setting of session.save_path at my PHP.ini... Quoting assafkat@post.tau.ac.il:
