hello, we want to use mediawiki to create shared internal documentation. however, we don't want the public to see/edit those docs. is it possible to run mediawiki over https instead of the usual http? if so, where can i find the necessary docs?

Generally, nothing should be required other than knowing how to configure your web server, which is beyond the scope of MediaWiki documentation.

Using SSL will not prevent the public from seeing or editing wiki articles. You need to explore authentication technology.
