Hi there,
Is there any way to modify a lot of articels in a mediaWiki 1.5.3 which does not contain Phyton? I fount the PythonMediaWikiBot, but I can only use PHP or Pearl. I took a lock in the Database, but the artikels aren't in plain text but in Blobs. Is it possible to modify them?
Any suggestion would be greate!
Thanx

First, upgrade to the current release (now 1.5.8) IMMEDIATELY!
You are leaving your server open to potentially serious attack by running this old version with known security vulnerabilities.

What's wrong with Python? Have you signed some contract forbidding the execution of programs written in Python or something?
Keep in mind that pywikipediabot is a client-side program suite: it does not run on the web server, but on your own computer; it connects to the server over HTTP just as your web browser does.
I would strongly recommend using the pywikipediabot framework, which seems to be the best developed and supported bot tool suite. However there are other client-side bot frameworks in other languages (use Google to search!) or you can write up a server-side script in PHP using MediaWiki's internal functions: see the maintenance directory for a whole passel of them.

Sure, it's possible but that's considered bad form; you should always maintain integrity with the page history.
