Hi,
I am definitely loogen on as SysOp. When I click 'unprotect' I am asked for a reason for unprotecting this site. No matter what I enter here after I clicked the Confirm button I am redirected to just the same site and the same procedure starts. The site is not unprotected !!!
What can be the reason for such a thing?

What page are you trying to unprotect? Also, does this happen on one particular page or all of them? If the latter, then something's up with the browser or server losing POST data.

I experienced this myself. I noticed that event though I unprotected Mediawiki:Sidebar as Admin, I could not edit it. However, I discovered that when I logged on as my own user identity, I was then able to edit the page. Hope this helps.

The MediaWiki namespace is protected for a reason, and while some users have reported that parts of it can be unprotected, the behaviour is not official and is rather hit-and-miss. Administrator rights are required in order to alter that aspect of the wiki.
