No, he doesn't. I think it I made a mistake in my eMail. Sorry, but my english is a bit improofable... I understood Tibor well and his adwise works well as well :-) The thing abaut the DefaultSettings was somthing completly different. Thince I am working with wikis, which is only a short time, I heard some people saying, that modifiing the DefaultSettings isn't a good idea, but nobody could tell me why, so I asked. Thats all. And by the way, whats an OP?
Have a nice day

I don't see where Tibor was advocating changing DefaultSettings.php, he was talking about editing MediaWiki:Sidebar page which is a new feature of 1.5

I was a little unsure why your link to this page was to a specific pre-1.5 edition when the OP clearly said that he was using 1.5.3

In case this is still unclear, DefaultSettings.php contains the original settings distributed with the software (which may change on upgrade), and LocalSettings.php contains your personalised values which over-ride these (and won't be touched on upgrade). Basically, keeping the two sets of settings separate makes keeping track of what you've changed easier, and ensures that you won't accidentally delete your settings when updating the defaults.
And by the way, whats an OP?

Well you should see my Deutsch!
And by the way, whats an OP?
In this context, original poster. In other words, the person who started the thread. It could also mean original post, or the first message in the thread.
Chus!
