Hello, sorry for this posting, but i found some mistakes or missing words, in the german translation for Mediawiki 1.6.X, and i am not sure would i should do now, post this issues in the bugtracker or simply wait for the next version ? I found no informations about the translations in the mediawiki or the metawiki, and i am not sure about the bugtracker because i found no other entries in the bugtracker.
Peter

Hello, ok maybe something is going wrong with the update to 1.6.0 or above, but the following words are not translated:
privacy police project page Category Some word/sentences in the user settings unwatch pages from special pages ( maybe some more... )
The question is, i guess its not a installation issue cause all other words/sentences are translated, what i should do now?
Make a entry in the bugtracker or wait for the next version ? I found no information about the translation somewhere. :/
Peter
(OK i could fiddle arround in the files, but i am afraid to do this)

It must be a problem with the translated words. Maybe these are new strings not from 1.5.x and the wiki is defaulting to English strings. When you install a new wiki, it pulls everything from LanguageXX.php into the wiki database.
So what you want to do is go to Spezial:Allmessages and find the non-translated messages. Then follow the links to the articles for those messages, and translate them. No fiddling with files needed. :)

Check out the latest trunk version from the SVN (see http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download_from_SVN and http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Subversion). Open the file languages/MessagesDe.php, and fix the problems. You can work with the file languages/Messages.php, and with http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Allmessages to help you. It will change all the projects in Deutch (Wikimedia projects and the new versions of MediaWiki, starting from 1.7 will be released in June (?)), so make it general, not specific for Wikipedia.
Then create a diff (a unified patch, the developers can use) with the command "svn diff > 1.patch" in the command prompt (in the root folder), upload it to http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org, the developers will review it (it may take an hour, a day or a month - depending on the what did you change, and on the luck) and will check it into the code.
See also the old documentation (talks about the CVS, was replaced in April 1st) in http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_localisation.
As for the bug tracker, see http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5450 for example.
