A group of people and I recently started using Mediawiki for a large set of study notes. We started with the standard installation, users began creating content, etc. I then took my first stab at editing localsettings.php to restrict user privileges. Ever since doing so, all of the content that had been created is no longer visible. I have tried going back and commenting out the lines in localsettings.php that I remember modifiying, but the content remains invisible. Can anyone help? There is a large group of people who are ready to kill me because they think I erased all of their content. I sincerely hope that this is not the case!

It would help to know in more detail what you did, and what you now see. Is this a wiki that is visible to the outside world?

You haven't deleted anything.
Comment all the lines referring to $wgGroupPermissions You probably did $wgGroupPermissions['*']['read'] = false; so your users can't read the content unless they are logged in (did they try?).
