Wow, that is an extension I hadn't heard of but it sure looks extremely powerful. I'll have to study it and will definitely consider it as a possible solution to my current problem.
Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Oh sorry :-) this acronym is well known from mediawiki users that I assumed you know what I'was talking about.
DPL stands for Dynamic Page List. It is a very useful MediaWiki Extension that you can use to create dynamic list of pages, to extract part of an article and so on:
The DPL Extension article at mediawiki http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/DPL
the DPL developer web site: http://semeb.com/dpldemo/index.php?title=Dynamic_Page_List
Some examples from my wiki:
Template CategoryGallery2: this template is useful for book of heraldry and it is based on DPL (look at the code) http://www.usnb.it/wiki/index.php?title=Template:CategoryGallery2
This article contains just a DPL statement to obtain a list of articles with some information obtained by a template included in each article: http://www.usnb.it/wiki/index.php?title=Riepilogo_Creature
