I was thinking about how many steps it takes to add an image to an article, and it is a little ridiculous.
So I did something about it. This is a little different than the miniupload that wikia uses (very nice). This allows you to upload an image, and add it into the page, or to find an image and add it, all in one step-process.
Give it a try http://risdpedia.net/index.php?title=Sandbox&action=edit
It is the orange "+ image" button. In the popup, click search. Keywords that have a lot under them are : glue , foam , wood . It is case insensitive, and found items does not need to start with the searched text, just contain it.
Try it and let me know what you think. This is aimed at wiki's whos users are not the most tech savy. It have an advanced button where you can choose size, as well as left/ right, and add a comment. The default is a 200px thumb on the right, so the user does not need to know anything syntax.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this work.

PS... The image upload is not turned on right now.

You want the link to return false (or move it to a onclick). I get the new window open, as well as the edit page moved to javascript:window.open('Adams/ajax/',%20'',%20'height=500,width=430');
Also, the search image sends me to a 404: "The requested URL /Adams/ajax/NULL was not found on this server."
Browser is Firefox 3
