I've set up a wiki (v. 1.5.2) and all seems to be working well, except that it did not appear to create a LocalSettings.php file. Can someone tell me where this file should be located and what it should contain? I'd like to customize a few things but don't want to edit the defaultsettings.php file to do it.
IIRC, once the installer finishes, it dumps a generated LocalSettings.php file in the config/ directory (where the installer itself is); you then have to move this up one directory to the root of the install. I wouldn't have thought the wiki could run at all without you moving/creating it, since it includes fundamental things like the name of the database to access.
If you really don't have one, maybe run the installer again? Or maybe just create one with the bits you want to add to it. But like I say, I can't imagine your wiki can really be running without one, so you're probably just looking in the wrong place - it should be in the root directory of your MediaWiki install, above "includes", "maintenance", "images", etc.
