Hi Evelyn, can we have a look at some of your products?

Yes, this was my process:
- downloaded the files from the MW download page:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download
- used 7-zip to extract the files
- used FileZilla to copy the contents of MW1.14 folder to the hosted site
(first, I renamed /images folder, /extensions folder and /skins folder to preserve the customized contents; I renamed localsettings.php to localsettings-old.php)
- opened the wiki in a web browser, and installed MW the usual way
this is when the odd Notices appeared:
>> *Notice*: Use of undefined constant NS_FILE_TALK - assumed
'NS_FILE_TALK' in * /home/platfor1/public_html/wiki/includes/DefaultSettings.php**1930* on line
>> Notice*: Undefined variable: wgAjaxSearch in *
/home/platfor1/public_html/wiki/includes/Setup.php* on line *272*
Continued the process, since nothing seemed to be fatal...I am now re-thinking this decision...
- moved localsettings.php from /config folder
- deleted folders: /images, /extensions, /skins, and renamed previous
folders
- added my custom stuff to the localsettings.php file
- launched the site
this is when I got the error message: *Fatal error*: Undefined class
constant 'FOR_THIS_USER' in * /home/platfor1/public_html/wiki/includes/Article.php* on line *440*
This solved the problem:
- delete all files on the hosted site (except /images folder, /extensions
folder and /skins folder)
- unzip the MW file again and copy the files to the hosted site
- re-run the installation, and do the same cleanup as before
It's all good now:

Let me know if you need additional info to debug.
Btw, I've been a techwriter using FrameMaker/RoboHelp for 10+ years. My experience with MediaWiki has been exceptional. Although yes, there is a learning curve to master the nuances of building a MediaWiki site, my users get immediate gratification, compared to the WebHelp model that's locked into a software distribution cycle. MediaWiki is the best tool, ever.
And, we're using it in a very different way to its' intended use: I created most of the content as a solo contributor, users don't login and have read-only privileges. Plus, we are supporting two products/brands with this one installation. Each site has different branding and content, thanks to skins, templates and parser functions. Thanks for consistently delivering such a robust, powerful tool.

Hello -
I'm upgrading from V1.13.4 to V1.14. I have been doing upgrades
successfully
since V1.12, so I'm not sure what's wrong.
This is the error I get:
*Fatal error*: Undefined class constant 'FOR_THIS_USER' in * /home/platfor1/public_html/wiki/includes/Article.php* on line *440*
Can you explain how you obtained and uploaded the files for the new version? It looks like some files have not been updated.
