As mentioned in my release announcement, MediaWiki 1.16 now supports SQLite search. You can upgrade to 1.16.0beta1 to get a search engine and various other SQLite-related features.
After you upgrade, run maintenance/rebuildtextindex.php to add existing text to the search index.
