Microsoft is not the only one which have trouble with 29 february
Last Friday, at work, our java app didn't want to save files... via FTP. After hard searching in the code and testing, we discovered that the 29 feb has disturbed the FTP server... which is WU-FTP or something like that! The files were created with 0 bytes. The date of the files were ok in the linux system (ls command) but using various client we got strange behaviours. Windows FTP client displayed the files dated from 1980 1st january. java client using common-net (famous package from apache), impossible to see the files created on 29 feb !
f*cking bug !

If you're having trouble with dates, this may be interesting.
