Also, you'll need to give as its last arguments, the filename suffixes you want to import. For example:
php ./importImages.php /imported/images/dir png jpg gif
I put importImages in the "maintenance" scripts folder of the wiki, since that seems a reasonable place.

in a command-line console (shell on Linux server or MS-dos on Windows WAMP) (on debian you must have php5-cli installed, don't know about others).
if you don't have command-line access to the server use phpShell (see http://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/htdig/mediawiki-l/2006-February/010220.ht...)
