I thought about hacking it with some regular experssion. But maybe for you it would be easier to replace the existing internal wiki search with Google searching:

Does anybody know of an extension or something to enable wildcard-search? I'm using mediawiki 1.8.1. (PHP 5.1.6,
MySQL: 5.0.26).
Thanks.
