localhost was the first thing I tried, with no success, I apologize for forgetting to mention that.

It varies, but as a guess, use "localhost" - this is the default name of the SQL server in most environments and many shared hosting environments.

I'm attempting to install MediaWiki on a sub domain of my website, as in:
http://wikifilm.riddleplayersproductions.com
On the installation screen, I've got everything else down properly, at least nothing is giving me an error message still, except for the MySQL server. I thought it was simply just typing the server that the database was on, as in riddleplayersproductions.com or wikifilm.riddleplayersproductions.com, but apparently this is not so. It's giving me the error message of,"Couldn't connect to database (2005)"
What am I suppose to enter for this field?
