Hello, I'm trying to help a teacher with a wiki for her class. The wiki is protected so that only registered users can view the wiki. She would like to receive an RSS/Atom feed of the "recent updates" so that she can see what the students are doing without having to log in to the wiki every day. She is also trying to have watch list updates emailed to herself, but still wants to know if she can do this.
From the looking around I've done so far, it looks like the typical
method of slipping a password and username into an RSS feed URL does not work. When trying to access a restricted page, instead of bringing up an automatic dialog box to ask for login information, the wiki will bring up a web page with a link to the login page. Since the server isn't directly asking for login info and the web page is not an RSS feed, RSS readers return the error "no RSS feed found at the specified URL." Is there any way around this? I'm using: MediaWiki: 1.7.1 PHP: 5.1.6 (apache2handler) MySQL: 4.1.20
