I have also tried to link from an internal image to an external page. Although the Mediawiki Help pages describe how to do that, it was not working for me.
However, I ended up in linking from an external image. This works for example: [http://www.mozilla-europe.org/de/ http://sfx-images.mozilla.org/affiliates/Buttons/110x32/get.gif]

Okay, in plain old html I'd make an image a link to another page by going:
<a href="www.yahoo.com"><img src="myYahooLogo.gif"></a>
Reading the mediawiki help and trying to figure out how to do this within the wiki...my god...I'm sorry but it seems horribly complex for a relatively easy concept. Is it really true that I have to make a redirect at the image page?
So what I want to do is upload an image and then make that image link to an external website, like perhaps:
[http://gmail.google.com/gmail [[Image:GmailIcon.jpg]]]
I'm hoping that there is a reasonably easy way to do this reasonably common thing.
Thanks,
