Thanks for this Rob, I think I'll pursue getting the StableVersion extension from the subversion working as I know that some people are happily using it.
Thanks
John

I'm in a bit of a quandary as there has been comment on the lists that an official version / variation of StableVersions as part of the next release MW1.10, and if it works in a different way then it might be better to wait for this rather than try to get the extension going, is there any further info on this in 1.10?
We have been asked to implement some sort of mechanism for creating snapshots and tagging stable/reviewed versions of pages in the future, and this has been promised, with no definite time frame laid out.
There is no guarantee as to how such a feature will be implemented, or which release version it will be part of. Some experimental proof-of-concept work has been done to confirm that dealing with problems such as changing templates will work.
There are some older extensions dotted about the web and/or in Subversion which refer to adding this behaviour, but may no longer be functional, or may never have been completed.
