Using JQuery in a tag extension

Hi, I try to use JQuery code in tag extension. Following the manuals I added in extension.json: "ResourceModules": { "ext.Iframe" : { "scripts": [ "modules/ext.Iframe.js" ] } }, in my main.php file: class IFrame { public static function renderIframe( $str, array $argv, Parser $parser, PPFrame $frame ) { ... $parser->mOutput->addModules('ext.Iframe'); ... } ... } and my modules/ext.Iframe.js looks like: jquery(document).ready(function ($) { $(document.body).append("Hello World!"); }); I would have expected to see a "Hello World!" at the end of my wiki page, but nothing appears. Upload API Error Handling

Hey all, I'm trying to get as much error handling coverage as possible with my extension. However, I can't find anything online regarding the possible errors for an image upload. I can find generic errors but nothing specific to the upload API. I've only been able to encounter warnings for duplicate name and file. I imagine there are some that deal specifically with the upload process, I implemented chunked uploading, and some of them I'd like to have a specific error message for. Thanks, Garrett

Problems installing mediawiki, please, help!

I'm trying to set up a localhost-only wiki for development which will not be web-facing. I've been following here [1] and also [2], and have got as far as 'Configure MediaWiki', and navigating to http://localhost and there I'm stuck. The browser shows - ╭──── │MediaWiki 1.30.0 │ │LocalSettings.php not found. │ │Please set up the wiki first. ╰──── But every time that I click on 'set up the wiki' it takes me to 'http://localhost/mw-config/index.php' and an "Error code 500". This is where I've installed mediawiki - /var/www/html/mediawiki Please someone, tell me where I'm going wrong and get me back working properly again. Thanks Sharon. Wikibase/Wikidata: finding property value links

Hi, I asked this on the Cloud mailing list[1] and got some useful advice but am still looking for a better answer. Apologies for cross-posting. Take [2] as an example. We see that in this page, the entity Q2113430 has a property called GeoNames ID (property P1566) and that property has a value of 18918. *Where can I find the link *between Q2113430 <--> P1566 <--> 18918 *in the database?* (Not through the API, but via a direct SQL query on the database) The idea is to get a list of all these triads to use for some investigation needed for [3]. Multiple foreign file repos for one wiki

Heiya, just a quick question. Let's assume that I set up mulitple foreign file repos for my wiki. What happens when e.g. two of them contain a file with the same name? Will the wiki a) error out, b) show nothing, c) show the first file it finds d) show an arbitrary file from the set if finds or ... Thanks for your insight. Cheers, Karsten

Wiki slowing down and becoming unresponsive

We're having issues with a MW installation that gets very slow when multiple users are logged in simultaneously. After a while the wiki becomes unresponsive and in some cases gives HTTP error 500. This has occurred with as few as three users logged in at once. The wiki was installed on a Windows server 2016-server, following this guide: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Installing_MediaWiki_on_Windows_Serve…. My first thought was that there was too little server resources, but when I looked at the task manager, CPU was fairly consistently between 5 and 25% (there were a few spikes) and the RAM was steady at around 50%. MW version is 1.30.0. I have turned on logging (following these instructions: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:How_to_debug#Logging), but I can't find any obvious cause for this behaviour. I have compiled a list of messages that looks suspicious here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/P6814. I didn't want to post the whole log since the logging instructions had security warnings about this. Any help with how to proceed finding the cause for this and fixing it would be much appreciated. Aggregate MediaWiki pingback data available

MediaWiki 1.28 introduced an optional pingback feature [0][1]. This feature is disabled by default. The pingback feature allows MediaWiki anonymously to report back information about its installation to help developers: the MediaWiki version, database type, PHP version, operating system, system type (32-bit or 64-bit), machine hardware, web server software, and memory limit. Aggregate pingback data collected since March 2017 is now viewable at https://pingback.wmflabs.org in graphical and tabular form. While this data only includes sites that opted in to data collection, it shows over 40,000 unique installations of MediaWiki in the last year in a variety of different configurations. Security Release: CentralNotice extension

Updates are available for the CentralNotice extension to fix an XSS vulnerability [1] and improve escaping in the extension's administration UI and in database queries [2]. The XSS vulnerability is exploitable by unauthenticated users, and only requires an attacker to convince their target to click on a specially crafted link to execute JavaScript in the context of a wiki running CentralNotice. Affected versions include git master after 2016-10-26 or release branches REL1_29 and REL1_30. The weaknesses in escaping would only be exploitable by users with CentralNotice administrator rights. If you are running CentralNotice, please update to the latest code from git [1] or download updated snapshots for release versions 1.27, 1.29, 1.30, or git master from [2]. File Upload Page - I need to write a custom version of it

Greetings everybody, I am the administrator of a private mediawiki installation for my neighborhood - about 170 inhabitants. Apparently one of the limits to adoption of the wiki is the cumbersome file upload process. I have installed Upload Wizard and customized the licensing options available to have the bare minimum but the multi-step process is still criticized. Just being forced by the UI to add a description to each file is apparently is too much. I therefore have to write our very own, supersimplified upload page. I'll obviously have to learn how to write Extensions and then I'll be able to have a look at the code of the Upload Wizard for inspiration. Are there any additional source of information on this topic that you'd recommend? Kind regards, Manu
